Kanakana Kindi (Window of Kanakadasa): Uniquely, devotees do not view the main idol directly from the front. Instead, darshan is taken through a silver-plated, nine-holed window known as the Navagraha Kindi. Legend holds that when the saint-poet Kanakadasa (who was barred entry due to caste restrictions) prayed earnestly from outside, the idol turned around and created a crack in the wall so he could see Lord Krishna. The Ashta Mathas & Paryaya System: The management of the temple rotates every two years among eight monasteries (Ashta Mathas) established by Madhvacharya: Palimaru Adamaru Krishnapura Puttige Shirur Sodhe Kaniyooru Pejavara The grand handover ceremony, called Paryaya, takes place every two years in January. Madhva Sarovara: A sacred water tank located within the complex where devotees bathe before entering the inner sanctum. Anna Brahma (Mass Dining): True to the tradition of Anna Dana (gifting food), the temple serves free, wholesome pure-vegetarian meals (Mahaprasada) to thousands of pilgrims daily.
