195 civilians receive rifle training in Udupi, Karnataka

Under the latest civilian firearm training program run by the Karnataka Police, 195 participants in Udupi district underwent a rigorous rifle‑handling course. The training, held at a local firing range, covered safe handling, target shooting and the legal aspects of civilian gun ownership.
The initiative follows a state‑wide push to promote responsible gun use and to empower citizens with basic firearm skills. In 2023, similar schemes were launched in several districts, but Udupi has stood out for its high participant turnout and the involvement of local NGOs.
With 195 trainees now familiarized with safety protocols and marksmanship, local authorities anticipate a boost in community safety and a deeper public understanding of firearms regulations.
