26 Arrested in Gambling Raid at Private Resort Near Udupi

On Sunday, the Karnataka police conducted a large‑scale raid on a secluded private resort near Udupi, detaining 26 individuals linked to an illegal gambling ring.
The operation, carried out by the Crime Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department, targeted a facility that had become a hub for clandestine wagering, with evidence suggesting that gamblers from neighboring districts flocked to the resort for high‑stakes betting. Police seized betting records, computers and large sums of cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal venture.
The crackdown is expected to disrupt a network that had been profiting from illicit gambling for months, potentially curbing street betting activities in the region and making it harder for local organized crime groups to generate revenue. Authorities said the raid was part of a wider anti‑gambling drive that also saw several other raids in and around Udupi last year.
