BJP warns of political fallout if Udupi hospital building stalls

In a sharp statement to the press, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members in Udupi district warned that a delay in the construction of the new district government hospital would trigger serious political fallout and potentially spark public protests.
The hospital, which began construction last year on a 20‑acre plot in Padubashini, is intended to provide comprehensive medical services to residents of the district and neighbouring taluks. With the project’s deadline set for the end of April, the BJP is demanding that the Khadi and Village Industries Ministry and the Karnataka Health & Family Welfare Department expedite the work, citing delays in land preparation and regulatory approvals as main hurdles.
Senior BJP district committee members stated that if the hospital is not completed on time, the party will mobilize its grassroots workers and community leaders to demand accountability, warning that the state government could face intense scrutiny from the electorate and opposition parties alike. The alleged delay could also undermine the government’s promises of improving healthcare infrastructure in Karnataka’s rural regions, putting local public sentiment at risk.
