BJP warns of protest if Udupi hospital project delayed past April

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned that a public agitation could erupt in Udupi district if the state government fails to complete the new government hospital by the end of April 2024.
Construction of the 1,200-bed facility, part of the Karnataka government's campaign to improve rural healthcare, has faced several setbacks, including land acquisition delays and funding gaps. The BJP, which is in the opposition at the state level, called for strict scrutiny of the project timeline and accused the ruling party of mismanaging the funds.
If the hospital is not completed on schedule, the BJP says it will organize protests and blockades in the district, potentially disrupting commerce and local transport.
