Broker and Associate Arrested in Udupi Municipal Property Tax Scam

A broker and his associate have been taken into custody by the Udupi City Municipal Council for allegedly cheating the council over property tax payments. According to reports, the duo were accused of manipulating invoices and redirecting tax revenues to private accounts.
The council, which received a formal complaint last month, cited discrepancies in the municipal tax ledger that pointed to irregularities amounting to over ₹2 crore. Police raided the broker’s office in Udupi City and seized documents that allegedly demonstrate the scheme.
