Car crashes into coconut tree in Udupi, injuring six, including three minors

On Tuesday evening, a passenger car traveling on the Udupi–Bangalore highway slammed into a coconut tree near Sirsi Road, leaving six people injured, three of them minors. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, and the occupants were rushed to nearest hospitals.
Udupi, known for its sprawling coconut plantations, has seen a rise in roadside accidents due to speeding and driver fatigue. Officials say the driver was attempting to avoid a roadside obstruction when the collision occurred, but the tree’s roots had weakened the surface, turning the impact into a fatal blow.
Local police conducted a preliminary investigation and confirmed that no one was killed. The injured were admitted to Kasturba Hospital and other district medical centers, with doctors treating lacerations and fractures.
