Chennamma, Former PM Deve Gowda's Wife, Passes Away After Cardiac Arrest

Chennamma, wife of former Karnataka Chief Minister and ex‑Prime Minister D. V. Deve Gowda, died on Sunday night after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest at her residence in Udyog Nagar, Udupi.

The former guru of Karnataka politics was known for her outspoken support of her husband's political agenda and her active participation in community development programmes. Chennamma had been a pillar of the Gowda family’s grassroots outreach, especially in the Udupi district.

Senior leaders across parties sent their condolences, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah describing her as a ‘stalwart in Karnataka politics.’ Her death is a significant loss to the people of Udupi and to the wider political community.
