Deworming drive to benefit 7.8 lakh children in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada

The Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts are set to benefit from a massive deworming drive that aims to provide deworming tablets to over 7.8 lakh children in the age group of 1 to 19 years. The drive, which is a part of the National Deworming Initiative, will be conducted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The deworming tablets will be given to children in government schools, government-aided schools, and private schools in the two districts. The tablets are effective in preventing intestinal worm infestations, which can lead to malnutrition, anaemia, and other health problems.
