Deworming tablets to be administered to 7.8 lakh children in Udupi and DK

The Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts in Karnataka are gearing up to administer deworming tablets to over 7.8 lakh children, as part of the ongoing government initiative. The tablets are expected to be given to children studying in government schools and pre-primary schools, with the aim of preventing parasitic infections and promoting healthy growth and development among children.
The deworming tablets will be administered to children in the age group of 2-19 years, as per the guidelines issued by the state government. The tablets are expected to be given to children in over 4,500 government schools and 2,500 pre-primary schools in the two districts.
The administration of deworming tablets is expected to have a significant impact on the health and well-being of children in the two districts. According to health experts, parasitic infections can lead to malnutrition, anaemia and other health problems among children, which can have long-term consequences on their growth and development.
