Deworming tablets to benefit 7.8 lakh children in Udupi, DK

The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations have launched a massive deworming drive to benefit around 7.8 lakh children in the region. As part of this initiative, the administrations plan to administer deworming tablets to school-going children in the age group of 6-19 years, said officials.
According to the officials, the deworming tablets will be administered to the children in government and private schools in the two districts. The drive will be carried out in collaboration with various health and education departments, they added.
The deworming drive is expected to have a significant impact on the health of children in the region. Worm infestations can lead to various health issues, including anaemia, malnutrition, and impaired cognitive abilities. By administering deworming tablets, the administrations aim to prevent these health issues and promote overall health among school-going children.
