Five men arrested in attempt to murder Udupi businessman

Five men were arrested on Wednesday after an alleged attempt to murder a local businessman in Udupi. Police said the 30‑year‑old entrepreneur was attacked at his residence near Gokulvadi while he was returning from a business meeting.
The officers received a call at 19:05 hrs, and a rapid response team intercepted the suspects on the Puttapady–Koliwada road before they could flee the scene. CCTV footage from the area shows the men approaching the businessman’s car, tying his ankle with a heavy rope and leaving him unconscious on the pavement.
Investigators say the motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the case has heightened concerns among local business owners about security and rising criminal activity in the district.
