Forest Department Launches Measures to Reduce Human-Wildlife Conflict in Udupi

Today, the Karnataka Forest Department announced a comprehensive set of measures aimed at reducing incidents of human‑wildlife conflict in the Udupi district.

The region, with its dense forest cover and diverse wildlife, has seen a rise in crop damage, livestock predation and occasional human injuries in recent years.

To address these challenges, the department plans to deploy wildlife specialists to monitor high‑risk zones, install tamper‑proof fencing around farms, hold community awareness workshops, and accelerate development of elephant corridors. It will also launch a dedicated helpline and a mobile app for real‑time incident reporting.
