Fraudsters Impersonating Officials Scam Udupi Man Out of ₹22 Lakh

A Udupi resident was misled by fraudsters posing as government officials and lost ₹22 lakh. Police are investigating the case after the victim reported the scam.
The man, a local farmer from the Udupi district, received calls from men claiming to be from the Income Tax Department, who advised him to transfer the proceeds of a purported investment into a bank account. Trusting their authority, he wired the amount, only to discover later that the officials were impostors.
