Good Rainfall Boosts Udupi Agriculture; Orange Alert Issued

Udupi district enjoyed a generous rainfall last week, delivering the water that farmers of the region have awaited for a long time due to the dry spell experienced earlier in the season.

The local agricultural department issued an “orange alert” following reports of increased pest activity that threatens the orange crop, a staple for both local consumption and export.

While the rain has replenished soil moisture and can help improve yields, the orange alert calls for immediate action from growers, including pest monitoring and timely treatment, to safeguard the upcoming harvest and protect farmers’ income.
