Heavy Monsoon Hits Dakshina Kannada and Udupi with Torrential Rainfall

Heavy monsoon rains inundated the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts over the past 48 hours, with some villages reporting up to 200 mm of rainfall in a single day.

The monsoon has intensified as the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea confluence increases moisture, a pattern seen in 2025 that disrupted agricultural activities.

Villages in Kasaragod and Kundapura have experienced flash floods, with Panoor village reporting a road washed away. The Karnataka State Disaster Response Team (SDRT) has set up relief camps and water pumps.
