Heavy Monsoon Rainfall Strikes Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts

The 2026 monsoon brought heavier than usual rainfall across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka, India, leading to widespread flooding and infrastructural damage.

According to meteorological reports, the region received a cumulative rainfall exceeding 150 mm in the past 24 hours, with localized peaks reaching 200 mm. The high precipitation has overwhelmed drainage systems in coastal towns such as Bhatkal, Mangalore and Ukku.
