Heavy Monsoon Rains Plunge Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts

Heavy monsoon showers have intensified over the last few days, saturating the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka. Rainfall totals have exceeded the 24‑hour averages, leading to sudden deluges across rural and urban areas.

Meteorological reports indicate that the western coast has been hit by a low‑pressure system delivering sustained winds and heavy precipitation, compounded by the region’s already saturated soils. Local residents note that the intensity is unprecedented compared to previous monsoon seasons, with repeated warnings issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
