Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Damage 15 Houses in Udupi District

Heavy rainfall and strong winds swept through Udupi district on Thursday, causing significant structural damage to 15 houses spread across the townships of Shirva and Barkur, according to local civic officials.

The deluge, which began in the late evening, produced wind gusts of up to 70 km/h that uprooted trees and burst water pipes. Udupi’s municipal corporation reported that the storm also blocked several main roads, leading to widespread waterlogging and the temporary closure of schools and hospitals.
