Heavy Rain and Winds Damage 15 Houses in Udupi District

Heavy rainfall combined with gusty winds struck the coastal town of Udupi on Monday, damaging 15 houses and uprooting trees across the district.

The Department of Meteorology had issued cyclone warnings earlier this week after satellite images showed a low‑pressure system over the Arabian Sea. Residents in the affected villages of Bhogoli and Kady, located near the Dandeli stretch, reported their homes suffering roof damage and damp interiors.

Local authorities have set up a relief camp to provide temporary shelter and clean water to the displaced residents. No fatalities have been reported, but several people suffered minor injuries from falling branches. Rural farmers are also concerned about crop loss as the rain has saturated fields.
