Heavy Rain Disrupts Homes and Roads in Udupi District

Heavy monsoon showers that began yesterday afternoon have caused widespread damage across Udupi district, with multiple houses suffering roof and wall collapse and several main roads submerged under water.

Local residents report that the incessant rain has turned the once-familiar stretches of National Highway 66 and connecting village roads into rough, muddy tracks, disrupting traffic between Udupi town, Kundapura, and the surrounding villages.

According to authorities, the deluge has also led to several minor injuries and the closure of checkpoints at the Udupi–Kundapura crossroad.
