Heavy rains damage homes, block roads across Udupi district

Last week, relentless rainfall battered the Udupi district, causing widespread waterlogging, damaging several homes and shutting key roads. The torrents, part of the Western Ghats’ monsoon surge, overwhelmed local drainage systems, leaving many neighbourhoods isolated.

Udupi’s residents reported structural damage such as cracked walls, shattered windows and water seepage into living spaces. Local authorities rushed in relief efforts, clearing debris and relocating affected families to temporary shelters.
