Heavy rains damage houses, block roads across Udupi district

Heavy rains over the past few days have caused extensive damage to homes and disrupted connectivity across Udupi district.

The downpour, part of the monsoon season’s intense rainfall, resulted in flooding of low‑lying areas and weakened foundations in several villages, prompting evacuations.

At least 45 houses have been reported damaged, and more than 20 kilometers of roads are currently impassable, hindering the movement of goods and emergency services. Local authorities are deploying teams to clear debris and restore water and power supplies. Source: Google News – Udupi District.
