Heavy Rains Trigger Floods and Landslides in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Heavy monsoon rains have drenched several parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka, leading to flooding and landslides, authorities reported late on Thursday.
In the last 24 hours, the coastal belt around Bhatkal and the hilly villages of Kallianpur and Konenja received an estimated 200 mm of rain, causing several streams to overflow and sediment to carry downhill, according to meteorological data from the Indian Meteorological Department.
Roads on the NH-75 and coastal routes have been blocked, prompting state emergency teams to conduct rescue operations and clear debris. The Karnataka Home Department has urged residents to stay indoors and monitored the situation via satellite imagery.
