Heavy Rains Trigger Red Alert: Schools Shut in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada

Karnataka’s monsoon season has intensified as heavy rains hit the coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, prompting authorities to issue a red alert. The storm brought downpours across the region, causing widespread flooding in low-lying areas.
The National Disaster Response Force reported rainfall totals exceeding 200 mm in parts of the district, with rivers swelled to dangerous levels. Local police units have deployed sandbags and launched rescue operations in affected villages.
