Heavy rains wreak havoc across Udupi district: houses damaged, roads disrupted

Heavy rains that swept through Udupi district over the past week have left dozens of homes damaged and many roads buried under water, hindering travel across the district.

The deluge, which began on Tuesday, saw rainfall totals exceeding 200 mm in some areas, creating sudden floods that overwhelmed drainage systems and left stretches of the coast road and the inland highways impassable.

Local reports estimate that more than 50 households have sustained repairs, and connectivity to the district headquarters has been interrupted for several hours.
