Intensifying Monsoon Brings Heavy Rainfall to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi

Heavy monsoon rains have battered the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, causing widespread flooding and road disruptions across the region.
Accidental rainfall intensity, recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department, reached up to 250 mm in certain pockets, breaking local rainfall records and overwhelming drainage systems. Residents in villages such as Karkala and Byndoor reported water levels high enough to render roads impassable.
The National Disaster Management Authority has issued advisories for communities to avoid low-lying areas and has mobilised emergency relief teams to assist stranded families.
