Kambala, a seasonal buffalo race held during the monsoon, has faced financial setbacks during the COVID‑19 pandemic, prompting the state to step in with funding to cover training costs, veterinary expenses, and infrastructural upkeep.

The infusion will allow participants to maintain their bulls, upgrade equipment, and regain confidence in hosting the annual competitions, which attract visitors nationwide. It also signals the government’s commitment to preserving heritage sports.
