Kasturba Hospital Achieves Udupi District’s First Liver Transplant

On Sunday, surgeons at Kasturba Hospital in Udupi performed the district’s first liver transplant, using a partial liver graft from a living donor. The patient recovered swiftly and was discharged after a short hospital stay.

The hospital, which has been expanding its surgical facilities over the past decade, has now become a critical centre for complex procedures in coastal Karnataka. Prior to this transplant, Udupi residents had to travel to major cities for such advanced care.
