Kerala's DK Zone Admins Polio Drive, Vaccinate 1.99 Lakh Children

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in partnership with local authorities, rolled out a nationwide pulse Polio immunization drive covering over 1.99 lakh children in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts of Karnataka.

The initiative, which ran from 1 to 30 August, targeted children aged six months to five years and involved more than 500 healthcare workers, making it one of the largest efforts to strengthen India’s polio‑free status.

With 199,000 children vaccinated, the drive significantly narrows the window for potential polio transmission, reinforcing the country’s path to eradicating the disease. Source: Google News – Udupi.
