Leopard Spotted in Residential Court in Manipal’s Alevoor Guddeyangadi

People in Alevoor Guddeyangadi, a neighbourhood in Manipal, were shocked when a leopard was reported to have roamed freely in a residential courtyard early yesterday morning. Gate staff and residents described the large predator as moving steadily among the houses, sparking immediate alarms and concern for safety.

Leopard sightings in urban Karnataka are uncommon, but recent reports have noted their presence in areas adjacent to the Nilgiri ranges and Mangalore. Authorities explain that habitat loss and human encroachment can push these animals into towns, causing unusual encounters such as the one in Alevoor Guddeyangadi.
