Man Arrested by Udupi Police Over Illegal Liquor Sale

The police in Udupi district detained a shopkeeper in the town of Bhatkal on Thursday for allegedly selling alcohol without a license. Authorities discovered a makeshift liquor stall behind a shop and seized a large stock of illicit liquor during a raid carried out early in the morning.
The man, identified as 34‑year‑old Ramesh Kumar, was caught after a tip‑off from a local resident about suspicious activity near the market. According to police, he was operating the stall for the past six months, selling liquor at rates below the state‑fixed price and supplying it to minors.
