Man Detained in Udupi for Alleged Matka Betting Network

A 32‑year‑old man was detained on Friday night in Udupi town by the local police for alleged involvement in a matka gambling network. Authorities say he operated multiple betting booths across the district.

Matka, a form of lottery based on dice rolls and tied to illegal betting, has been a persistent problem in Karnataka. The arrest followed a week‑long investigation by the Udupi forensics cell.
