Man of Rs 22 Lakh Duped by Fraudsters Pretending to be Officials in Udupi

A 50‑year‑old resident of Udupi fled to the police after realizing he had handed over ₹22 lakh to a group of individuals who claimed to be government officials.

The impostors, according to preliminary evidence, posed as revenue inspectors and asked the man to transfer money for alleged land registration fees. Such schemes have been reported in the district, with victims often being misled into paying large sums before realizing the officials were fake.
