MESCOM intensifies door‑to‑door re‑registration drive for Gruha Jyothi in Udupi

In a bid to boost the reach of its solar‑power programme, the Karnataka State Electricity Board (MESCOM) has stepped up a door‑to‑door re‑registration drive across Udupi district.
The Gruha Jyothi scheme, introduced to provide free solar power to households, has been popular since its launch. MESCOM is now focusing on families that signed up earlier but did not complete the installation or whose registrations have expired, ensuring they receive the promised benefit.
Volunteers from local panchayats are visiting homes to explain the process, distribute application forms and facilitate on‑site approvals.
