New Kendriya Vidyalaya in Udupi to be inaugurated soon

A new Kendriya Vidyalaya campus in Udupi is set to be inaugurated at the end of this month, the Member of Parliament for Udupi said today.

The state‑run school, part of the national Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan network, was built to meet rising enrolment demands and to bring quality central‑education services closer to residents of the coastal district. The three‑storey complex contains 20 air‑conditioned classrooms, a science laboratory, a library, a computer lab and an indoor sports hall, all designed to cater to more than 1,000 students. Construction, which began in late 2021, was completed in 2024 after a series of inspections and quality checks.

The new campus is expected to reduce the commute for many students, who previously had to travel to Mangalore or other distant towns for central school education. Local parents say the improved facilities will help nurture talent and keep children in the district rather than the city.
