NPR Traffic Cameras Reduce Violations in Udupi

Udupi police have rolled out a network of New Police Radar (NPR) cameras to capture and deter traffic violations across key junctions in the district. Since the system went live, authorities note a significant drop in speeding, illegal turns, and lane discipline breaches.
The initiative, launched in partnership with the Karnataka State Police and aided by advanced image‑processing software, records drivers at critical points and sends real‑time alerts to traffic commanders. Municipal officials anticipate that the automated system will also lessen the workload on patrol units, allowing officers to focus on more serious crimes.
