Pulse Polio Campaign Administers Vaccine to Nearly 200,000 Children in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

In a coordinated effort to strengthen polio immunity, district health authorities conducted a Pulse Polio drive across Dakshina Kannada in Udupi, vaccinating 199,423 children under the age of five between June 12 and 14.
The campaign, part of the national polio eradication program, followed a recent dip in routine immunization coverage in the region. Earlier this year, the district had administered vaccines to 160,000 children, leaving a gap that the pulse drive aimed to close. Officials had set a target of 185,000 children, and the additional reach of nearly 14,000 exceeded expectations.
With the vaccination of almost 200,000 children, the drive brings Udupi closer to WHO’s polio eradication goal while underscoring the need for continued surveillance and routine immunization. Source: Google News – Udupi.
