Rainstorm Destroys 15 Houses in Udupi District

Heavy rains followed by gale-force winds struck Udupi district on Thursday, toppling roof slates and damaging around 15 houses in the affected villages.

Local authorities reported that the monsoon‑induced rainfall caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, while the sudden wind gusts uprooted trees and cracked roofs, leaving residents with broken windows and water‑logged interiors.
