Seven School Children Injured After Bus Collides Into Ditch Near Manipal

A school bus traveling from Manipal to a feeder school overturned into a ditch on a stretch of the Manipal-Udupi road early this morning, injuring seven of its passengers.

Witnesses report that the bus, carrying 12 students and a driver, approached a sharp bend at about 50 km/h when the driver applied emergency brakes, causing the vehicle to tip over and slide into the ditch. No other vehicles were involved, and road conditions appear to have been normal.

The seven children sustained injuries ranging from bruises to internal trauma; two were airlifted to Manipal Hospital for urgent care. Local authorities are investigating the incident, while the district education office has urged parents and school officials to review safety protocols for school transport.
