Shop Fire in Adi Udupi Market Causes Damage but No Injuries

A small shop in the bustling Adi Udupi market caught fire early Tuesday morning, sending smoke and sparks into the surrounding stalls. The blaze appeared to stem from an electrical fault near the shop’s refrigeration unit, but the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

Firefighters from the Udupi Fire & Rescue Service arrived within minutes, using hoses and a water cannon to suppress the flames. The rapid response contained the fire within about 20 minutes, preventing it from spreading to neighboring businesses.

While no injuries were reported, the fire caused extensive damage to the shop’s inventory and a portion of the stall’s wooden framework. The shop owner has requested compensation for lost goods and has paused sales operations until repairs are completed.
