Someshwara Beach Renovated with New Facilities to Boost Udupi Tourism

Someshwara beach in Udupi Town has been refurbished with a range of new facilities, including upgraded restrooms, dedicated food stalls, shaded seating, and modern life‑saving equipment, to welcome tourists in the coming season.

The renovation, led by Udupi Municipal Corporation in partnership with the coastal development authority, added 25 new food kiosks, improved drainage, and installed pedestrian pathways. A total of 1.5 million rupees was allocated for the project, part of a broader coastal tourism push announced at the recent Udupi Coastal Development Forum.

Officials anticipate that the upgraded beach will boost local tourism, create jobs for small vendors and enhance the district’s attractiveness as a family holiday destination. Environmental safeguards such as waste‑management plans and mangrove preservation measures have been incorporated to minimise ecological impact.
