Speed Radar Cameras Now Active at Six Udupi Highway Pockets

The Karnataka state transport department has announced the launch of six speed‑radar camera units at key points along highways traversing Udupi district, marking a significant step toward enforcing speed limits.
Earlier this year, the district administration had publicly committed to installing traffic monitoring equipment as part of a broader road safety initiative. The sensors are situated at three points on NH 75, two on NH 66, and one on State Highway 26, covering major vehicular routes between Udupi and the coastal line.
Officials expect the new camera system to reduce high‑speed incidents by at least 20% within the first year, thereby decreasing accidents and enhancing freight and passenger safety.
