Stray Dogs Attack Shed: 5 Goats Killed in Katapady, Residents Seek Action

On Saturday, a group of stray dogs broke into a goat shed in the Katapady hamlet of Udupi district, slaughtering five goats and leaving the small farm in distress.
Residents of the nearby village reported that the animals had been locked in the shed for safety when the dogs snuck in through a small opening. “It was terrifying to see the dogs run through our grain and kill the goats,” said a local farmer who wished to remain anonymous.
The incident has sparked protests from the community, who are calling on the Panchayat and the District Veterinary Officer to take urgent measures to control the stray dog population and to install better locks or guard posts on livestock sheds.
Such attacks not only threaten the livelihoods of ordinary farmers but also pose health risks and erode trust in rural safety measures, experts say.
