Students on Udupi Bus Ladder Arrested in Viral Video

A video that went viral on social media shows several students from Udupi District hanging from the ladder of a private bus as it passed by a busy road. The footage, captured by an on‑lookers smartphone, suggests that the students were attempting to sneak onto or off the bus when the security guard’s ladder was extended down for boarding.
The incident occurred on the Udupi–Karkala road near the Pandit R.N. Prabhakar High School campus, according to local sources. The private transport operator, which serves school children in the area, has placed its drivers on notice and a preliminary inquiry by the Udupi municipal police has been launched. Parents of the students involved have called for a safety audit of private school buses and stricter enforcement of passenger rules.
Three students sustained minor injuries from falling off the ladder, while others reported bruises and psychological distress. The local school authorities have suspended the involved bus operator from transport contracts pending the completion of the investigation.
