Students Suspended from Bus Ladder in Viral Udupi Video Raises Safety Concerns

Video footage that has gone viral on social media shows several school children suspended by their legs from the side ladder of a privately operated bus in Udupi, casting doubts over the safety of transport provided for students.
The clip, filmed inside a charter bus used by local schools during the school term, shows a group of about seven students hanging upside-down, their upper bodies tucked into the edge of the ladder as the vehicle moved along the road. The image was recorded by a mobile phone and spread across WhatsApp and other platforms within hours.
The incident has sparked protests from parents and local officials, who warn that private companies have little oversight and often ignore safety protocols. Municipal authorities have asked the bus operator to conduct an immediate safety audit and to suspend the use of the vehicle while investigations are undertaken.
