Tata Motors has unveiled its newest electric SUV, the Harrier EV, in Manipal with a launch on‑road price of ₹24.77 lakh (plus applicable taxes and fees). The premium SUV, built on the crisper Tata SEDANEV architecture, comes with a 70 kWh battery, 150 kW motor, and a projected range of over 300 km on a single charge.
The new pricing strategy is part of Tata’s broader push to increase electric vehicle penetration in Karnataka, following the launch of the Nexon EV and the upcoming Tiago EV. Manipal, a key city in the Udupi district, already hosts several public charging points run by local utility companies, and the government has earmarked new infrastructure to support EV drivers. This launch aligns with the Karnataka State Government’s mandate to boost EV adoption in core districts.
The Harrier EV’s price places it below many rival premium SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, making it an attractive option for families and commercial fleets in Udupi and surrounding towns. Industry observers anticipate that the vehicle’s higher mileage and lower running cost will accelerate its acceptance in southern markets, potentially spurring further EV infrastructure investment in the region.
