Three women have been named among the accused in a high‑profile investment fraud case that has stunned the Udupi district.
The case, which was announced by the Udupi City Court last week, alleges that the accused ran a Ponzi‑style scheme that promised investors high returns on a supposed real‑estate and commodity investment platform. Early indications suggest that more than 150 local residents have reported losses amounting to several crores of rupees.
The investigators have seized several properties allegedly linked to the scheme, while the court has ordered a detailed inquiry into the operations of the investment firm. The case raises concerns about the regulatory oversight of informal investment ventures in the region. Source: Google News – Udupi.
