Tragic loss: Two brothers, one a Udupi college student, drown in Sirsi stream

On a rainy Tuesday, two brothers, aged 18 and 20, who were studying at local colleges in Udupi, drowned while trying to cross a rapid stream near Sirsi town. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. inside the stream, which is known to become dangerous after heavy monsoon showers.
The stream, a small tributary of the Kaveri, had swollen due to recent rains, making the water velocity high and the banks slippery. Earlier this week, local residents received warnings from district authorities urging them not to cross at that point, but many still attempted the crossing in the hope of reaching the opposite side.
