TRAI Drive Test: Jio Leads 5G Speed & Coverage in Udupi, Airtel Best Upload, BSNL Lagging

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its latest drive‑test data for the Udupi district, revealing a clear performance hierarchy among the three major operators. Jio topped the charts in both 5G speed and coverage, recording the fastest download rates and the most extensive reach across the region.
Airtel emerged as the leader in upload performance, offering higher upload speeds that could benefit businesses and remote workers. In contrast, the state‑run BSNL lagged behind both private operators in download speed, coverage and upload benchmarks, underscoring the continuing service gap.
These findings are likely to shape consumer choice and push incumbents to accelerate network upgrades.
